Refreshing the Spirit today, an Avocet takes to flight across the shallows and flats of North Arcata Bay. Photographic artistry presented as colored pencil beauty.
A green belt shielded this marshland from the roadway. Getting out and walking about forty feet into the brush revealed a number of ducks and egrets feeding in shallow ponds. This image is an artistic colored pencil rendering of a juvenile snowy egret learning to work the waters edge for food.
Arcata Marsh and Bird Sanctuary is a stop over location for hundreds of migrating species of birds each year. Klopp Lake provides a restful stopover location for pelicans, godwits, willits, avocets, and many more species of birds along the north edge of Humboldt Bay. Photo recomposed as color pencil art.
